DATO' NARAYANAN KANAN
Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)
Senior Vice President, Industry Development Division

Dato' Narayanan Kanan is responsible for the Industry Development Division of the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDec). He is a director at the Multimedia Super Corridor Technology Centre (MSCTC), a MSC Consulting subsidiary. He was the Assistant Controller Ministry of Trade and Industry (formerly known as Ministry of Commerce and Industry), Principle Private Secretary to two Cabinet Ministers, and Deputy Secretary General of Ministry of Primary Industries while he was with the Malaysian Home and Foreign Services. Dato' Narayanan Kanan made significant contributions to national economic and industry development, with the reformation of MDA National Investment Agency which provided consultation to UNCTAD on price stablisation. He was also a spokesman for ASEAN in ASEAN-US Dialogue on commodity issues.

Research Director, Emerging Technologies Asia/Pacific Vertical Markets

Patrick Chan, Ph.D., is currently with IDC as the Research Director, focusing on emerging technologies like Service-Oriented Architecture, Business Activity Monitoring, Composite Applications, Enterprise Application Integration, Grid Computing, Enterprise Infrastructure, and other emerging areas. Dr. Patrick Chan previously worked with the standard organisation OASIS as the Asia Pacific representative to support and expand the consortium's activities across Asia/Pacific through focused educational and business development activities. He has over 15 years of academic and industry consulting experience, serving in roles as diverse as technical director, global architect, e-government specialist, business development and alliances director, and research scientist.

SCOTT CRENSHAW

General Manager, Enterprise Linux and Platform Products

Scott Crenshaw leads Red Hat's Platform Products Group, where he holds P&L responsibility for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, as well as the company's storage, clustering systems management, and security and identity product lines. Prior to joining Red Hat, Scott was CEO of NTRU, a security technology vendor whose investors included Greylock, Sony and Texas Instruments. Scott held a number of executive positions at enterprise software vendor Datawatch, most recently as Vice President of Business Development. Scott was a Sloan Fellow at the MIT Sloan School of Management; he received an MBA from MIT and a B.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University.

MSS Technology Manager, South Asia

As a technology manager, See Ghee leads a team of application engineers in South Asia to provide best-in-class pre-sales support to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers, distributors and alliance partners. He joined AMD in October 2000 as Country Technical Manager, South Asia Pacific region with over 10 years of high-tech industry experience. See Ghee started out as a microchip engineer for Sony and has worked on VLSI 3D graphics chips design in the Central and Kihara Research Laboratory in Japan. He then moved to Sun Microsystem's Microelectronic Division in Singapore as the Field Application Engineering Manager for the processor and server platform business in this region. See Ghee has a Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, majoring in Computer from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Bryan Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore and is called to the Singapore and English Bars. Bryan practised in large Singapore's law firms, and international firms before starting Keystone Law Corporation, a boutique IT/Telecoms/Media law firm. Keystone's clients include leading players in the software, Internet and telecommunications industry. Bryan's areas of practice include information technology, telecommunications, biotechnology and bioinformatics, Chinese intellectual property, data protection, media/entertainment and corporate work. He has given numerous talks in Singapore and abroad to research institutes, universities, the legal profession as well as industry bodies. Bryan serves on the board of advisors to the Institute of Technical Education and the Gold Award Holders Alumni (Duke of Edinburgh's award) and the editorial board for the Electronic Evidence Journal. He has also been a member of the Law Society's Information Technology and International Relations sub-committees, as well as the LawNet Management Committee. He is also the author of Halsbury's Laws of Malaysia - E-Commerce and is currently writing the Halsbury's Laws of Singapore on E-Commerce.

STACIE L. LEGROW

Stacie LeGrow joined Red Hat,Inc. as a member of the Business Affairs team in 2004. The team negotiates revenue contracts and is responsible for educating clients and partners about Red Hat's subscription terms and licensing approach. Stacie leads the company's internal sales training programme educating Red Hat Global Sales teams on legal issues surrounding open source software. She is also responsible for the management of legal concerns surrounding worldwide hosting programme and provides legal guidance for partner channel programmes. Before joining Red Hat, Stacie served as Associate Counsel for an international logistics tracking company based in North America. Stacie holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University. She is an active member of the American Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association.

He led hSenid to become a leader in the software industry with offices and partners in Singapore, Europe and USA. hSenid has a research and development center in Colombo, Sri Lanka. hSenid has a solid track record in developing state-of-the-art HR solutions and mobile applications for telecommunications, financial and enterprise market, with a highly satisfied world wide client base. Dinesh has over 15 years of expertise in the Information Technology sector. He started his career at Aetna Life and Casualty where he is involved in client server application development. He then became an enterprise technology consultant for Aetna Strategic Business Units. He joined Pepsi Cola in New York as a software engineer where he was responsible for the successful implementation of many nation-wide Information technology projects.

HARISH PILLAY

Manager, Partner Development

Harish Pillay has been with Red Hat Asia Pacific since September 2003 and is currently overseeing the company's Independent Software Vendor (ISV) ecosystem initiatives in Asia Pacific. Harish joined Red Hat from Maringo Tree Technologies, an open source consultancy, training and services company he co-founded in 2002. He has held senior management and technical positions at Brokat Asia, Sembawang Media, CSA Automated and CSA Holdings. An avid open source activist and commentator, Harish co-founded the Linux Users' Group Singapore (LUGS) in 1993 and is currently its President. He is a senior member of the Singapore Computer Society and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. In 2005, he was inducted into the Oregon State University's Engineering Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers in recognition of distinction in professional practice and service to the profession and to the society at large. Over the years, he has presented papers and spoken at numerous events such as the IX Asia 2003/2004 in Singapore, Asia Open Source Software Symposium, LinuxWorld Asia in New Delhi, COSGOV in Hanoi and Indian eGov Conference, India.

MOHD RIZATUDDIN RAMLI

Senior Manager and Head, Software Development Cluster

Rizatuddin oversees the technology cluster group of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) which formulates strategies and marketing programmes to attract local and foreign investments to the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC). The group processes MSC status applications and proposals, and maintains customer relationship with existing clientele. He was Senior Manager, Client Services, MDEC before serving as Special Officer to Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), in the Honorary Minister's office. His role involved Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and biotechnology development, and industry and agency liaison. Rizatuddin, better known as “Ritz” is an appointed member of the Research and Development, Technical and Commercial Evaluation Committee that overseas the MSC Research and Development Grant Scheme Funds (managed for MOSTI) and the MSC Shared Services New Initiative Programme. He first worked on the MSC project when he was part of the MSC CRFP Task Team that drew the blueprint of Malaysia’s MSC Electronic Government and Telemedicine Flagship Applications. Ritz has experience in database, RAD tools system developments, ERP and MRP systems and inventory management.

SHANE OWENBY

Regional Manager, ASEAN

Shane Owenby is responsible for the overall business operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia which include sales leadership, staff management and tactical strategy planning. Most recently, Shane was the Manager of Red Hat's Asia Pacific Sales Engineering team and was directly involved in closing large Enterprise Linux opportunities. Prior to Red Hat, Shane held other managerial and technical positions at an Open Source collaborative software company, CollabNet Inc. and in the Linux Technology Center (LTC) at IBM.

NIGEL CALLANAN
Open Source & LInux Organisation, Asia Pacific & Japan HP
Principal Technologist

Nigel Callanan is responsible for driving the adoption of open source and Linux solutions in Asia Pacific and Japan. He is specifically focused on helping HP's enterprise customers take advantage of this new development model by reducing the potential risks associated with open source adoption. Based in Australia, Nigel has been with HP for more than 6 years, recently joining the Asia Pacific team in his current role. Prior to this role, Nigel was a solutions architect and a consultant manager in the infrastructure practice of HP's consulting and integration business unit.

Nigel has been in the industry for over 15 years. He has very broad experience having held a variety of roles ranging from software development, through infrastructure, and management positions working for start ups, multinationals, and government organisations. In addition to numerous trade and industry certifications, Nigel holds several tertiary qualifications in computer science, including a Master of Science in Network Systems.

SUBRAMANIAM SATYAMOORTHY
JBoss Inc.
Director, Market Development, Asia Pacific

Satya began his career with Unisys in India and was one of the first Java geeks to ride the Java and Internet tide since 1994. He was the head of the e-business center of CGI (formerly IMRGlobal) in Florida, and was instrumental in transitioning IMRGlobal from a Y2K company to a modernisation and e-business consulting firm. He then took up the position of Head of Architecture, National Division, Nielsen Media Research, the company that pioneered media and TV ratings in United States. Satya spearheaded the use of open source products which resulted in huge savings on J2EE application server licenses. As Head of Architecture, he spoke regularly about enterprise architecture, open source software and data warehousing. Satya, an early adopter and advocate of JBoss products and open source since 2001, became the founding Director of Asia Pacific operations, JBoss Inc. A prolific and interesting speaker, Satya currently heads Market Development, Asia Pacific, JBoss,a division of Red Hat.
